Taibah University in Medina has created a new academic specialization for the bachelor’s level at the College of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences (Bachelor of Hearing and Speech Pathology) for the academic year 1445 AH, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and consistent with its strategy for programmatic transformation that is compatible with the requirements of the labor market in the public and private sectors.

The specialty of treating hearing and speech pathology is one of the rare medical rehabilitation specialties, despite the urgent need for the services of graduates of this specialty, not only at the level of the Medina region and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but also at the level of the Arab region and many countries of the world. The importance of this specialty lies in its connection with the most important functions in the human body, which are closely related to his quality of life, which is hearing, balance, speech, communication, perception, and swallowing. Therefore, graduates of this specialty deal with patients of different age groups who suffer from diseases or disorders in hearing, balance, language, speech, perception, and swallowing
This specialty is concerned with studying scientific methods based on medical and engineering foundations and evidence in all scientific and practical fields related to prosthetic limbs and orthoses to enhance intellectual growth and manual skills to benefit from prosthetic limbs for those who have lost one of their limbs (legs or hands), in addition to the orthoses that are used in Treatment of orthopedic injuries as a part of the treatment plan for patients.
Taibah University allowed female students to be accepted during the year 1445 AH in the specialty of prosthetics and Orthotics at the College of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences, which is the first of its kind in the Kingdom and the Arabian Gulf.
The department grants a bachelor's degree in physical therapy, and the department works to prepare distinguished national cadres and qualify them to work in various health facilities. This department is concerned with studying scientific and physical methods for rehabilitating patients and the disabled, especially after injuries to the locomotor system or after surgical operations, to work on improving or restoring human motor functions. Maximizing movement ability, alleviating pain, and treating or preventing physical challenges associated with injuries and diseases to improve a person’s quality of life. It is also concerned with working to prevent any permanent complications after an injury, alleviating pain, and increasing the speed of recovery from some injuries.
This specialty is concerned with studying scientific methods for any diagnostic or therapeutic intervention for patients in general and for respiratory patients in particular.
